The Spiritual person, as described in Galatians 5:22, has love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. This is what God is looking for! The truly spiritual person is the Christian who lives in the Spirit and walks humbly with God.
Let us ask our Father that all of these may be ours. Let us lay aside that which would hinder our being filled with the Holy Spirit. For when we are filled, His fruit will be ours. Jesus came to give us life more abundantly, and this life is found in daily surrender to Him.
We are nothing; He has and is everything. If we ask our Father in Heaven, nothing wavering, He will make us the kind of children we desire to be. “Ask and it shall be given thee” (Matthew 7:7).

We are in a battle, surrounded on every side by powers of darkness and of light! But you are not aware, perhaps. Such is indeed a great problem for one caught in the midst of an awful conflict! How is it that so many soldiers have lain there weapons down, and have tossed their very lives to the wind? Yet the battle rages while they skip carelessly across the field of conflict, slumbering foolishly while their fellow soldiers fight and fall all around them. What a sad and miserable sight indee... When Paul was faced with difficult questions by a church in Corinth, he boldly treaded through the murky waters of controversy and dispute, admitting that these areas were not directly addressed in Scripture, yet professing in these matters, “I think also I have the Spirit of God.” (1 Corinthians 7:40b)
Herein he distinctly points out that he is answering their biblical questions according to his own judgment, but at the same time reminded them that he believed his judgment was inspired ... Continue reading...

The Bible declares that without faith it is impossible to please God; and Jesus proclaimed that if we just had the least amount of faith, we could see mountain-moving miracles. In light of this, I am stunned as I think of these words: Faith, Hope, Love, these three; but the greatest of these is love! Moreover we are admonished in our faith-life not to forget that though we have all faith so that we could remove mountains, without love we are nothing!
We must believe God, we must have faith in... Continue reading...

As
the DEAD DAYS roll by, we may in our self-examination consider "Church."
What is it for? What is my relationship to it? How should I approach
it? First of all, the Lord has unquestionably called us to engage in
Church, for the word of God asserts, "Let us consider one another in
order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together..."
Herein we discover two obvious implications: 1)
We are called by God to church; 2) We are expected to be considerat... Continue reading...

While on his pilgrimage, poor Christian found himself suddenly caught in the mire of the Slough of Despond. Fortunately Help came to his rescue and pulled him out. Once planted on firm ground once more Help admonished Christian: “But why did you not look for the steps?” In Pilgrim’s Progress these “Steps” illustrate the oft overlooked and neglected promises of God.
We say we believe in the promises of God: Good, as well we should. We sing about His promises, we consider the verse... Continue reading...

The Bible asserts that those who come to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The Lord works by His word in our lives, and that work is effective- it’s consequential- in those who seek Him and believe Him. To take the Lord at His word, and to believe Him, is to open one’s life to the effective work of the Word of God. The Lord God has promised to honor His word, and will not allow it to return void unto Him. He will accomplish an ef... Continue reading...

Too many believers are simply wandering through life like zombie-Christians! The word of God is stifled in their life by the cares of this world; the Spirit of God is quenched as they return to the dead-things of sin; and the Steps of the Master are no longer followed, as they are led away by their own selfish and sinful desires.
This lifeless existence is not the expectation of our Lord for those He has redeemed; for He surely meant it when he said, “I have come that they may have life, a...

There is only one life for the Christian to live. Jesus said He came to give new life to His followers, and that abundantly. But Scripture points out clearly that this life is only found in Christ Himself, serving Him, following Him, and ministering to others in His Name. We are to reckon dead our old life that was apart from Him, that was at enmity with Him; and we are commanded to walk now in His steps, useful to Him at any moment that He should desire to wield us in His hands for His holy ...
