In the Book of Romans the Apostle Paul presents a great treatise on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He explains our need for the gospel, and then exhorts believers to live by the gospel. Once we have put our faith in the Lord Jesus, we are called to bring glory to Him through our lives. We have been freed from the bonds of sin and death and we are now given spiritual liberty to live for righteousness.

Inspiring Paul, the Holy Spirit commands us in the Church, “Do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” (Rom. 6:13) This is a plain and simple admonition from God’s Word to His people: “Obey Me, honor Me... have nothing else before Me.”

What is it that occupies my time? To what to I give myself? Am I preoccupied with the things of the Spirit, and with obeying God and pleasing Him, or, am I distracted by the things of the flesh and the cares of this world? Where am I when God’s people are gathered together? Where am I when the fellow believers are gathered in prayer? Where am I in my relationship to the Lord who bought me?

Confronting these questions may be uncomfortable and even challenging, but you have God’s Word before you: Surrender your life to the One who has given Life to you, and start living as one who is alive from the dead!

Your church is calling you to fast and pray for God’s blessing, will you? Your church gathers three times a week to worship and study and pray, will you? Your church is seeking first the Kingdom of God, are you?
